Holiday Tree Arrives in Bangor

Bangor - It's starting to look a lot more like Christmas in downtown Bangor, as the city's holiday tree arrived in West Market Square, Tuesday.

For more than 20 years, Sprague's Nursery in Bangor has donated a tree to the city.

It has become a sight that helps put everyone in the holiday spirit.

"I think it adds to what I consider to be the traditional Christmas that downtowns are known for. I think it's somewhat nostalgic, and I think people like that sort of old-fashioned feel when they're shopping at the holiday time," said Bangor City Councilor, David Nealley.

Decorations will be hung Thursday, and the annual lighting ceremony will take place this Saturday.

CHRISTMAS TREE! CHRISTMAS TREE! There is no such thing as a "holiday" tree. This holiday is about Christ's birth, It is not a "politically correct" event. It is celebrating the birth of our Lord...if you don't believe, then maybe you should not be celebrating .

It's all about being politically correct these days. No one wants to say that it's really a Christmas Tree.. (which it is) because someone might get offended.. Trouble is do the jewish people call it a Holiday candle stick holder. No! So why do Christians have to take on all the political correctness? drives me cookoo.. If We the People of the United states want to truly show that we are a melting pot of Nationalities then put up the "Christmas Tree", light the "Menorah", drink from the "unity cup" in celebration of Kwanzaa and for once lets have "Peace on Earth" as we take one time of year to actually accept and appreciate our differences.
