United Maine Craftsmen Holds Thanksgiving Weekend Fair

3

Brewer - Black Friday and Small Business Saturday are over, but that's not stopping people from shopping.

There were 55 vendors who showed off their goods inside the Brewer auditorium for the United Maine Craftsmen fair this weekend.

The idea is to help support crafts made right here in Maine, which helps one group who comes to the fair every year.

The Neighbors Helping Neighbors Food Pantry set up their concession stand by the fair. One director said 75 restaurants help them out around the holiday season. They say it's hard after Thanksgiving to receive more donations.

Volunteer Director of Neighbors Helping Neighbors Food Pantry, Carol Lackedy said, "If it weren't for all those restaurants in Bangor and Brewer that support us, we could never raise the money that we need to purchase food throughout the winter."

President of United Maine, Craftsmen, Aletha Boyle said "People are so excited to support the local economies and support Maine made products."

The food pantry said they usually raise about $1,500 every year at the fair.
