Black Ice Causes Car Crash on I-395 in Bangor

3

Bangor - Black ice on the roadways caused an accident on I-395 in Bangor Friday morning.

The driver of an SUV slid off the Hampden exit, causing it to rollover in the ditch.

There was one passenger.

One of the occupants had to be cut out from the vehicle.

Neither had life-threatening injuries.

Authorities say this is another reminder for drivers to be cautious when the weather gets cold.

"This is the time of year that we'll experience black ice. Temperatures are getting well below freezing, humidity left over, condensation from the warm daytime air, [it] collects on the roadway and drivers should be aware of it in the early morning hours especially you can expect some black ice," says State Police Trooper Kyle Willette.

The two victims of the car crash were heading home from Black Friday shopping.
