Firefighters Offer Family Fire Safety Class

Orrington - Orrington Fire and Rescue offered a free family fire safety class on Tuesday night.

This comes in the wake of a fire that claimed the life of Ben Johnson III and his three young children.

Fire fighters say that they've seen a lot of fear, anxiety, and concern since the blaze just over a week ago.

They felt the best way to help give their neighbors some peace of mind was to educate them on how to prevent the unthinkable from happening in their home.

About 150 people came out for the free lesson.

Fire fighters suggest always having a working smoke detector, examining rooms for potential hazards, and always having an exit plan in case of an emergency.
