Central Maine Girl Scouts Baking Up A Storm For Thanksgiving

3

Oakland - Girl Scouts from seven central Maine troops rolled up their sleeves in a kitchen in Oakland Tuesday afternoon to help others.

They met at Messalonskee high School to bake 200 pies, many from scratch.

The treats will be served at the annual public Thanksgiving feast served at the high school on Thursday.

About 40 girl scouts took part.

Troop leader Deborah Wentworth says the girls are happy to do what they can to see that no one in their communities goes without this Thanksgiving. "I think they learn teamwork, they learn a little creativity, and also how to give back to their community. To do something good for others," Wentworth said.

Thanksgiving dinner at Messalonskee High School will be served from 11:00-1:00 Thursday.

It's free and everyone's invited.
