Gym Members Workout to Help a Family Pay for Medical Expenses

Fairfield - A local gym has come together to help one of its members.

Anytime Fitness in Fairfield held a fitness relay to raise money for Nathanael Batson, a 12 year old boy who has been diagnosed with cancer. Participants pledged to exercise for 24 hours to raise money for the pre-teen.

A brain tumor affecting Batson's optic nerve has resulted in blindness. This is the 3rd time his cancer has come back. The family says outpouring community support is overwhelming.

Betson said "It means a lot to me that people care about what's happening to me and they donate things to help out with my medical bills and stuff that we need to help me get better."

The family currently travels to Scarborough every week for chemotherapy.

The money raised will help for traveling and medical expenses.
