Windsor -
The Kennebec County Sheriff's Department says a 28-year-old man was killed Thursday in a crash on Route 17 in Windsor. Four others were injured.
Police say the man was driving a car at a high rate of speed when it struck a van traveling in the same direction. That van was pushed into oncoming traffic, hitting another vehicle head on.
The victim has been identified as Madison Martin of Augusta. Police say a 17-year-old passenger was pinned in the car, which was partially on fire.
Rescuers put out the fire and freed the girl. She was taken by helicopter to a hospital in Lewiston. Her condition is unknown. A deputy suffered minor cuts and burns getting the girl out.
Three people in the other two vehicles were also taken to hospitals.
Police say it appears drugs, speed, and erratic operation caused the crash. They are still investigating.
