Five year-old Julia Turner believes it's better to give than to receive.
Last week she hosted a birthday party and asked friends to bring a donation for the Old Town Animal Orphanage instead of presents for her.
The kids brought food, cleaning supplies, even beds for some of their furry friends.
In October, the folks who run the shelter were forced to shut its doors for six weeks to treat scabies and ringworm outbreaks.
Now that they've re-openened, all animals have a clean bill of health and are looking for a "forever home".
Julia hopes that the donations help the animals before they find a new family.
