Bangor Woman Admits to Stealing Money from Healthcare Charities

3

Bangor - A Bangor woman accused of stealing more than $56,000 from Healthcare Charities in Bangor pleaded guilty Tuesday.

47-year-old Laurena Cunningham was charged with theft by unauthorized taking.

She's scheduled to be sentenced next month.

The investigation began earlier this year when Charities officials realized the money was gone.

Cunningham was a long-time employee and the District Attorney's office told TV5 it appears she took the money during a span of a year and a half.

The maximum sentence is 10 years.

The District Attorney's office is recommending a sentence that would put Cunningham in jail for 9 months with 3 years probation.
