Career Center Available to Help Mainers Looking for Jobs

3

Bangor - The Bangor Career Center was originally only opening Monday, November 12th, to help people who applied for the 400 jobs being offered at a call center in Orono.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency was going to set up a contact center for Hurricane Sandy disaster victims to call, but it's no longer happening.

The Career Center still opened on Monday, though.

NexxLinx of Maine was working with FEMA to offer the jobs, but FEMA pulled the plug on Saturday, saying they didn't need as much help as they originally thought.

" We were really looking forward and hoping that these jobs were going to help people get through the holidays and maybe even through the winter and the heating season and everything. They were good jobs, it looks like it's not going to happen," said Ed Upham, manager of the Career Center in Bangor.

The Career Center is open Monday through Friday from 8am - 5pm .

It's located at 45 Oak Street in Bangor.

Upham encourages anyone looking for a job to stop by the Career Center and get some help.
