Two Women Hospitalized After Being Struck by Van

Bangor - Two Canadian women are in the hospital after being hit by a van in Bangor Sunday night.

Bangor Police say the victims, 66-year old Carol Day of Halifax, Nova Scotia and 62-year old Sandra Samuel from Lutes Mountain, New Brunswick were crossing Hogan Road near the intersection of the Olive Garden parking lot when they were struck

It happened around 6 p.m.

Samuel was in critical condition at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor as of Monday morning. Day was listed in fair condition.

No charges are expected to be filed against the driver of the van.

Bangor police say at least four witnesses stopped to provide care and comfort to the victims of the accident. One of them, a Bangor woman and cardiac nurse at a local hospital, provided life-saving emergency first aid to one of the victims before emergency crews arrived.
