Flu Season Starts in Maine

The flu has arrived in Maine.

State health officials say it's shown up in patients in Aroostook, Penobscot and Cumberland counties.

None of them had gotten flu shots.

A long-term care facility in Penobscot county also reported an outbreak of influenza on October 31st.

The Maine Center for Disease Control recommends an annual flu vaccine as best way to protect against influenza.

Signs of flu include fever, cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, muscle or body aches, headaches and fatigue.
