Tuesday night, Maine became one of three states in the nation to, for the first time through popular vote, approve same sex marriage.
It’s a decision that's sitting well with many, including some local businesses.
Wedding photographers and event center staff are looking forward to working with couples who have been waiting to get married.
One local function hall was already getting calls Wednesday, and has even booked a same sex wedding for the fall.
Staff says they only expect things to get busier.
The Secretary of State's office says the new law will take effect no later than January 5th.
