Bangor Seniors Holding Food Drive for Local Homeless Shelter

3

Bangor - Seniors in Bangor are reaching out to feed the needy. The Hammond Street Senior Center is holding a food drive this month for the Bangor Area Homeless Shelter.

Folks at the senior center often ask for help from the community and figured it was their turn to give.

On Monday, the homeless shelter's executive director Dennis Marble paid a visit to the senior center to shed more light on just who they will be helping.

"When you get out in this community and ask for help, you get help. When you get out in this community and get involved in a dialogue, you find out that there are some misconceptions about people who are homeless or how places are funded and things you can correct," said Marble.

The seniors will be holding their food drive through November 16. If you'd like to help them help the homeless, drop off non-perishable food items at the Hammond Street Senior Center.
