About 16,000 Still Without Power Throughout the State

Maine's utilities have made good progress in restoring power following a glancing blow by Sandy.

Central Maine Power reported early Wednesday that a little more than 16,000 customers were still in the dark, about three-quarters of that amount in York and Cumberland counties.

Bangor Hydro Electric Co. was experiencing just scattered outages Wednesday morning, concentrated in Hancock County.

Bangor Hydro says it will decide Wednesday whether to deploy crews to assist with restoration efforts in other areas of the country.
