Authorities are trying to figure out who attacked a Washington County corrections officer, then took off.
Sergeant Troy Lyons was on a routine patrol Monday night around the outside of the jail in Machais when someone hit him from behind.
Lyons was taken to the hospital where he was treated for a cut to the head and a bruised shoulder.
The Washington County Sheriff says Lyons was on the backside of a garage, out of a view of a security camera.
Lyon is temporary off-duty while he recovers.
