Guard at Franklin County Jail Struck in the Face by Inmate

Farmington - A corrections officer at the Franklin County jail was checked out at a hospital after getting hit in the face by an inmate.

Sheriff's Lt. Niles Yeaton says the female guard was struck by the inmate's hand on Friday morning.

He tells the Sun Journal, the unnamed worker had marks on her neck and had blood on her ear. She drove herself to Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington to be checked out and then returned to work.

The inmate was subdued and placed in a cell.

There was no word on charges but a report will be sent to the district attorney's office to be reviewed.
