Brewer Police Department Teaches Husson Students About Pharmacy Robberies

3

Bangor - The Brewer Police Department is taking steps to combat the growing problem of pharmacy robberies.

Across Maine, they've been teaching the course "Pharmacy Robbery: Prevention and Response".

Officers shared their insight in handling those situations with students in the criminal justice and pharmacy programs at Husson University on Friday.

Officers say there's been nearly 40 pharmacy robberies in the state this year.

"Its a great deal of concern because anytime you have people with that kind of description, a lot of the people involved have an addiction and because of that they are unpredictable," says Perry Anton, Director of Brewer Public Safety.

Those students learned safety procedures to follow during a robbery, as well as skills to provide the best description of suspects.
