Bangor Man Charged after Reported Assault and Standoff
Bangor Police have identified the suspect arrested Friday morning at Dirigo Drive as 29-year-old Jared Ross of Bangor.
He was arrested around 8 a.m. Authorities say they made several attempts to contact Ross inside the residence.
After he didn't respond, the Special Response Team sent in a remotely controlled robot. Ross was located on the second floor, and police say he surrendered peacefully.
Ross is being held at the Penobscot County Jail and is being charged with aggravated assault with a dangerous weapon and domestic violence assault.
Police responded around 4:30 Friday morning to a report of a woman and her mother being assaulted by a man they now. They say at some point, he became angry, brandished a shotgun, and assaulted the mother. The two fled to a nearby store, where they reported the incident. She suffered a head laceration and is being treated at a local hospital.
The daughter reported that they left her 11-month-old baby in the residence. The baby was located unharmed on the second floor and was reunited with the mother.
His relationship with the women is unknown at this time.
