NESCom Students Take Part in Country Music Cruise Internship

3

Bangor - Talk about landing an incredible internship, seven New England School of Communications audio students just got back from working aboard a country music cruise in the Caribbean.

Blake Shelton was the headliner on the Norwegian Pearl.

Over 100 live shows took place on the cruise.

The seniors worked as stage crew, helping put on shows for around 25 country music acts, including Trace Adkins and Randy Houser.

"Tim Cabral, who was from a NESCom graduate from 1991, started working for Carnival Cruise Lines right after he graduated from NESCom. So, he's had a very successful career in Carnival and has just gone independent an dthis is his forst production and he wanted to pay it forward and bring some NESCom students in to give them a fantastic experience," said the director of audio, Eric Ferguson.

"I had no idea what to expect and it all kind of happened so fast that I really didn't even see it coming, and before I knew it, I was running cables for the Trace Adkins show on a cruise ship," said Martin.

The experience and connections made on the trip, will last much longer than the sun tans they brought back.

"It definitely reassured me that this is what I want to do in the future," said Martin.

"I was able to, you know, network with some different people on the ship and get some contacts. They said, if you're looking for freelance work we can help you out, and it would range from anywhere from L.A. to Atlanta to Tampa, so, the future looks bright," said senior Chris Daniels.
