Maine Discovery Museum Honors Maine Author

Bangor - The Maine Discovery Museum in Bangor is honoring a Maine author.

Toni Buzzeo of Buxton is the recipient of their 2012 "Time of Wonder Children's Book Award".

Her book "Lighthouse Christmas" is a heartwarming story of a family living on a lighthouse island.

They become separated in a snowstorm on Christmas Eve, only to be reunited.

Niles Parker, the executive director of the museum says the award celebrates children's literature that "captures a sense of wonder and imagination."

"The idea is getting across and honoring books that get at that sense of wonder, and encourage children to explore and discover and just get at that love of reading and literacy. So every year the museum has been picking out one book that does just that."

The museum's "Time of Wonder" display was even build by a local Eagle Scout.

Wyatt Morrison of the Katahdin Area Council created the display using recycled parts of the old Larkin Street Schoolhouse.
