Mainers United for Marriage Says Yes to Question One

3

Bangor - A group of Maine Republicans came to Bangor on Thursday to discuss their support of Same-Sex Marriage.

Mainers United for Marriage held a press conference at the Bangor Public Library. The Republicans, ranging from conservative to more liberal, discussed why they believe Mainers should vote yes to question one on election day.

One state representative who voted against same-sex marriage back in 2009 explained why changed his mind for 2012. Stacey Fitts said, "This is a human issue, like we heard today. This is about people. These are real people, they have feelings and the strongest feeling anyone can have is love."

The group says they've grown tremendously in the past few months. In July, they had 20 supporters and they have about 1,000.
