Bucksport/Prospect - It's beginning to look a lot like Halloween in the Bucksport area. This weekend, the town will turn from Bucksport into "Ghostport."

"The idea is just to celebrate Halloween and fall and harvest and all those good things," said Bucksport Bay Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Leslie Wombacher.

Downtown is celebrating with around 15 family-friendly events, including a children's costume parade, a chili cook off, a coffin race and a dance.

Wombacher said, "It really was born from that idea of just really making something that, as a family, they can really enjoy. I mean the dance, it's families that go down there and participate in the dance, that's nice."

But across the bay, you'll find something much different. At this year's Fright at the Fort, enter the historic Fort Knox site in Prospect and you'll find yourself in the middle of a zombie apocolypse.

Friends of Fort Knox Executive Director Leon Seymour said, "We've got some great volunteers lined up, some great set scenes. We think people are really going to notice a difference this year."

The Friends of Fort Knox have invested a lot in this year's zombie apocalypse themed event to make it scarier than ever before. They've even brought in a new secret prop, which travelled all the way from California to spook those daring enough to travel through the fort.

"If we can hear them screaming in the parking lot, we know we have a success and that's what we're shooting for every year," said Seymour.

The Ghostport events have been rescheduled slightly due to rain. They'll be taking place in downtown Bucksport on Sunday evening and Saturday morning. Visit GhostportME.com for the full schedule of events.

Fright at the Fort begins this Friday and Saturday, October 19 and 20, and continues on October 26 and 27. It's open from 5:30 PM to 9:00 PM, rain or shine. Tickets cost $10.00 for adults and $5.00 for children.
