What does assisted living provide for the elderly and disabled? Michelle Hale, Residential Services Director for Freeses Assisted Living, joined Carolyn Callahan on TV5 News at 5 to talk about it.
· Assisted Living Services is for the elderly or disabled that still want the independence of their own apartment but recognize they may need assistance and support with everyday living.
· Penquis provides affordable assisted living services in 3 locations. Freeses Assisted Living in Downtown Bangor, in Millinocket and Camden.
· Services include assistance with medication, prepared meals, support with everyday tasks such as bathing, getting dressed or help with hygiene, housekeeping, laundry. Emergency call buttons are provided and staff are in the building 24/7. It also provides social opportunities All of our facilities have an atrium area for residents to just visit with each other or participate in activities.
· Cost for assisted living is based on income
· Individuals rent their own 1-bedroom handicap accessible apartments that they can furnish themselves. Couples can occupy an apartment together.
