Business is Cooking in Ellsworth

3

Ellsworth - The lunch rush at Governor's in Ellsworth has helped set a pace for business in the restaurant.

"It's been really busy. We're doing a really good job," said Assistant General Manager, Candice Adams.

The staff has had full plates since they opened on High Street in April, an indicator of the region's appetite for growth, according to the city's Economic Development Director, Micki Sumpter.

"I think we're holding our own and we're doing well. We have a lot going on in Ellsworth," said Sumpter.

With the addition of spots like Governor's and expansion projects for existing offices, Sumpter said the city has witnessed an economic upturn in the last couple years.

She explained, "We have a long way to go, but I think that there are job opportunities now between the hospital, the banks."

And for many, that's worth celebrating.

"We're celebrating it by running some specials for our local community and our local guests to tell them thank you so much for a great six months," Adams told us.

Her employer is offering two weeks of deals, as a way to serve the customers who have been serving the local economy well.

She said, "We just want to give something back to the local community people."
