Fire at Bar Harbor Summer Home

Bar Harbor - A summer residence in Bar Harbor caught fire early Monday morning.

Crews were called to Schooner Head Road just before 2 a.m.

About four or five people were in the home at the time. Bar Harbor Fire Captain John Lennon says they were awakened by a smoke detector and got out safely.

Fire fighters determined the blaze started in a void space off of the furnace room in the basement.

Crews were able to put out the flames quickly and keep it contained to that area.

Captain Lennon says there is smoke damage throughout the home.

Authorities are still trying to determine how the fire started.
