New Maine Army National Guard Training Facility Officially Open

3

Bangor - The Maine Army National Guard has a new Regional Training Institute in Bangor.

The ribbon was cut Friday afternoon on the $33-million facility.

Guard members spend four weeks learning and living at the training site. It includes classrooms, an auditorium, medical training room, dorms, and a dining facility.

" We provide instruction nation-wide for the Army as well as the DOD agencies so we can give courses that pay right back to the Maine Army National Guard and in addition we're able to give back to the community by having local vendors provide all of our resources , all our meals, construction material for the construction courses we teach," said Lt. Col. Brian Veneziano, with the Maine Army National Guard.

This building replaces the former Training Institute in Augusta, which was built in 1958.
