Lawrence High School Students Helping Their Community Through Competition

3

Fairfield - A competition among students at Lawrence High School is helping out those in need in their community.

As part of the school's homecoming festivities, students are holding a food drive.

They bring carts to each homeroom and collect food brought in by classmates. The food goes to several local food pantries.

The school wants to get the entire community involved.

Friday night, fans are asked to bring non-perishable food items to the homecoming football game against Cony. "We expect about 2000 people to show up," said Lawrence Science teacher Eric Brown. "We just thought it would be really nice and community-building if each of those people would show up with a can of food or a box of rice or some pasta or some non-perishable good."

We're told the senior class has collected the most food, with the sophomores sitting in second place, just ahead of the junior class with one day left in the competition.

As for the football game, kickoff is Friday night at 7:00.
