Bangor -
A member of the Bangor School Committee abruptly resigned.
Kate Dickerson made the surprise announcement at Tuesday night's meeting.
Dickerson said she "lost faith in the system's integrity."
Superintendent Betsy Webb says, according to the City Charter, Dickerson's position will be left vacant until an election in November 2013. There is an exception to this rule, if the Bangor City Council decides to hold a special election to fill the spot.
Webb says she does not know if the council will decide to do that.
Dickerson still had a year left in her term.
