Fallen Soldier From Houlton to be Laid to Rest

Houlton - A Green Beret from Maine who died after being injured by an improvised explosive device in Afghanistan is being laid to rest.

Gov. Paul LePage ordered flags lowered to half-staff for Wednesday's funeral for Army Sgt. 1st Class Aaron Henderson in the gymnasium of Houlton High School.

Henderson grew up in Houlton and has family there. He was captain of his baseball and basketball teams at Hodgdon High School, where he graduated in 1997.

Henderson was wounded by an improvised explosive device Sept. 30, had both of his legs amputated and died the following day at the hospital at Bagram Air Field in Afghanistan. He served in the 2nd Battalion, 5th Special Forces Group at Fort Campbell, Ky.
