Portland -
TD Bank is notifying some East Coast customers that it lost data containing confidential customer information but it won't say how many customers have been affected.
Backup computer tapes that were being transferred between TD bank locations were lost in March.
TD Bank spokeswoman Rebecca Acevedo told the Portland Press Herald, that at no time was there a security breach or evidence that the data has been used inappropriately.
The bank is sending letters to the customers whose data was lost and offering them free credit monitoring and identity theft protection
The bank continues to investigate.
