A lot of Mainers can now buy their electricity from the Dead River Company.
Dead River officials say their rates are lower than the standard offer from Bangor Hydro and Central Maine Power.
The Public Utilities Commission has also given Dead River the go ahead to sell discounted power for electric thermal storage units, which can be used to heat homes and businesses.
Company officials say off-peak electric rates for the units equates to about $2.90 a gallon for heating oil.
