Gardiner Students Enjoy Day Off from School at Corinna Farm

Corinna - Navigating the hallways of school might actually be easier than finding your way through a seven acre corn maze, but it was still the preferred setting for middle schoolers from Gardiner.

"I think this is awesome. I mean, I love this place," said Maguire Gallagher-Waller, one of the students visiting the Thunder Road Farm in Corinna.

The Boys & Girls Club of Gardiner took advantage of the students' day off from school Friday and planned a field trip.

"The hay ride, we went on it, and there was like two really big mud puddles and there were really deep and they kept splashing us. That was fun," said student, Isabel Bickford.

The club's education director, Holly Jordan, wanted to give the kids a chance to do something they might not otherwise get to.

She said, "Here, they're getting to experience a lot of things that they've never done before like a hay ride, the cow train. Going out in the mud is of course exciting for any kid."

Saturday, the farm is holding a Breast Cancer Awareness event in conjunction with Eastern Maine Medical Center. A portion of the proceeds collected at the farm will go to EMMC.
