FBI Special Agent Rides Cross-Country

3

Bar Harbor - A retired FBI Speciail Agent completed one of his most important missions in Bar Harbor on Monday.

69-year-old Jim Caverly of New York rode his bike from coast-to-coast to raise money for the group "Concerns of Police Survivors".

It is an organization providing resources to assist those affected by the deaths of police officers killed in the line of duty.

His goal is to raise awareness for the group, as well as 30-thousand dollars.

On may 25th, he began his trek in Oregon, and crossed through 14-states.

He completed the ride around 5pm on Monday and says the final stretch was a little harder than he anticipated, "I thought I was over the hills when I got into Maine and that was a big mistake. I've been climbing in Maine, little up and down but there are these 10 percent grades and they take a lot of energy."

Approximately 150 police officers are killed in the line of duty every year.
