Bangor -
A local hospital received top honors in the healthcare field this week.
Saint Joseph Hospital has been voted a top 100 hospital by Thomson Reuters. The healthcare center is the only Maine Hospital to be voted in the top 100 in the country.
The hospital staff and family members celebrated in Bangor on Saturday. The President of the hospital says this award is not something you can sign up for pay for, it's voted on by past patients and current employees.
President and CEO of St. Joseph Healthcare, Mary Prybylo said, "What that means is that when patients come to our facility, they're less likely to have an infection or have a complication happen because our quality is just so high."
The president also added it's nice to be recognized to do the work they love to do. They plan to continue to provide a high quality of care and to set a high standard for hospitals around the state.
