Orono -
Democratic students at Umaine held a rally Tuesday in support of their party.
Among those attending, former Senate Majority Leader George Mitchell.
Mitchell addressed the students as well as other local Democratic representatives.
Congressman Mike Michaud, who's in a race to hold on to his 2nd District seat, was also there.
Michaud says jobs and the economy are top issues this election year, especially for college graduates trying to enter the work force.
He says it's important to listen to them.
"They tend to think outside the box in trying to find ways to improve, whether it's economic development issue or environmental issues. They are our future and we've got to make sure we include them in our decision making process as well.'
Michaud says another important issue for these students - college loan debt.
Maine graduates have the second highest debt-load in the country.
Only New Hampshire's is higher.
