The colors are changing in Maine.
State forestry officials say fall foliage in northernmost Maine is now a third of the way to peak color.
The second 2012 Fall Foliage Report, which came out Wednesday, says overall leaf color is 30-50 percent toward peak, with low leaf drop in all of Aroostook County and northern Piscataquis and Somerset counties.
Rangers at Baxter State Park and Aroostook State Park in Presque Isle are observing foliage color at 35-40 percent toward peak.
Park Manager Scott Thompson at Aroostook State Park says colors are improving and changing daily, with reds making a big jump this past week. Rangers in the northwestern zone covering Greenville, Jackman and The Forks observe low leaf color, or 10-30 percent toward peak.
