Eliot -
A man from Eliot is charged with attempted murder and gross sexual assault after reportedly breaking into his ex-girlfriend's home, raping her and trying to strangle her.
Police arrested 31 year-old Paul Olsen Wednesday morning at his grandmother's house in Warren.
Police say Olsen raped his ex-girlfriend at her house in Eliot, held her against her will, and tried to strangle her to the point where she lost consciousness.
The victim's two young children were home at the time. She's being treated at a hospital.
Olsen is also charged with kidnapping and burglary.
