Bangor -
Bangor police are stepping up their walking patrols downtown.
They added an officer on the streets this summer to take care of problems with panhandling, disorderly behavior and property damage.
They say the effort worked and reduced crime in the area.
A spokesperson for the department says police now plan to put an officer on the street more often and for longer periods of time.
