Bangor -
Waterfront Concerts is one step closer to constructing a permanent home on the Penobscot River.
Monday night, the city's finance committee voted 4-1 in favor of building a facility along the waterfront for the concert group.
Initial bids from companies to work on the project had exceeded the city's $650,000 budget, but the committee was able to find a Bangor company, Gardner Construction Enterprise, to work within the budget.
Gardner will do a slightly scaled down version of the original plan for $648,000. Waterfront Concerts president, Alex Gray, told TV5 construction could begin by the end of October.
The vote now has to go before a full council.
