One Accident Causes a 5-Car Pile-Up on I-95

Bangor - Police were clearing an earlier accident on Interstate 95, when a 5 car piled up occurred on Saturday night.

Maine State Police say a white Yukon was traveling south bound on I-95 too fast when it came up to a stopped traffic. The SUV struck one car, sending it into the break down lane. Then the Yukon got back in the driving lane and hit 3 other vehicles.

Some of the passengers were taken to a local hospital, complaining of pain and possible concussions.

Police say it's situations like this that drivers need to be looking out for. Maine State Police Sgt, David Millett, said "When people are on the highway system and they approach stopped vehicles, put your 4-way flashers - the hazard warning - on. It lets people know that potentially something is happening up ahead and it just alerts people to slow down and be prepared for something."

The accident is under investigation.

Hope everyone is okay. And I hope it wasn't someone's failure to yield on the on ramp heading Southbound, as so many people do.
