A Vermont Shriner Suffers Injuries before the Annual Parade

Bangor - It wasn't all fun and games at the Shriner parade in Downtown Bangor on Saturday.

Police say a Shriner from Vermont suffered a head injury when he crashed while testing a small go-kart before a parade in Bangor.

Police say the miniature car crashed into a flatbed trailer in a bank parking lot. The victim, who wasn't identified, was not wearing a helmet. The parade continued despite the accident.

Last October, a Shriner from Maine died after his go-kart overturned during a stunt at the Damariscotta Pumpkin Fest Parade in Newcastle. Investigators blamed that accident a mechanical failure.
