The lawyers for A South Berwick man convicted of manslaughter appeared before the Maine Supreme Court in Portland Wednesday morning to say his sentence should be overturned.
24-year-old Garrett Cheney was convicted in January of 2010 for a drunk driving hit and run crash that killed University of Maine student, Jordyn Bakely in Orono.
Cheney was sentenced to seven years in prison.
His lawyer says there are five points on appeal, but given the limited time, chose to focus on a couple, including what he says was prosecutorial misconduct.
The State's attorney was questioned by the justices about whether there was a problem with the jury because someone from the public told a juror they wanted a conviction and the testimony of an investigative officer.
