Maine Fall Foliage Reports Begin

3

Augusta - As the fall foliage reports begin, Maine forestry officials are predicting this will be a great fall for leaf peeping.

The season's first fall foliage report will be available on Wednesday and reports will continue until the entire state has reached past-peak conditions.

Maine foliage spokeswoman, Gale Ross, says it's been a dry, hot summer, and that's set the state up for an ideal foliage season.

The reports are issued by the Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry. Ross says some stressed trees already have begun to turn, as have some swamp maples in northern Maine, but the bulk of Maine's trees will turn in the next few weeks.

Maine's fall foliage website shows a region-by-region breakdown of the fall colors. The website is http://www.mainefoliage.com.
