Recent High Profile Cases will be Brought to Maine Supreme Court

Some of Maine's highest profile cases from the past few years will be in court this week...

Maine's highest court is hearing arguments on appeals from a man serving 40 years for murder and two other men convicted of manslaughter in separate cases.

The Maine Supreme Judicial Court will hear oral arguments Wednesday in the appeal of 34-year-old Nathanael Nightingale of Burlington.

He was convicted of murder and manslaughter in the 2009 shooting deaths of a Valerie and Mike Miller who ran a pawnshop and loan business in Webster Plantation.

The court will also hear the appeal of 24-year-old Garrett Cheney, who was convicted of manslaughter in the 2010 hit-and-run death of a 20 year old Jordyn Bakley who was a University of Maine student in Orono at the time of her death.

Twenty-year-old Nicklas Jones is also appealing his manslaughter conviction in the 2009 death of his 3-month-old daughter.
