AFF 2012: 90,000 People Attended; More Than $130,000 Collected in Donations

Bangor - It's estimated that 90,000 people attended the 2012 American Folk Festival in Bangor.

Festival executive director, Heather McCarthy says those festival-goers contributed a total of $131,912 into the donation buckets. That's the second-highest bucket total ever in the Festival's history.

"Contributions from festival-goers are crucial to the sustainability of the American Folk Festival," said Festival Chair John Rohman. "The diversity of arts that we present are available to everyone in our community, and it is our goal to ensure that the AFF remains admission-free."

The numbers reported Friday are just the start of the totals for the 2012 American Folk Festival. "Such a large event requires several weeks to process the many revenues and expenses, and we do not have all of that information yet," said McCarthy.

According to a press release, some revenue lines exceeded goal, while others were short of the goal. It will likely be October before all of the paperwork is processed for this year's Festival.
