State Fire Investigators: Too Much Damage to Determine Cause of Monson Fire
Monson -
Fire destroyed one building and damaged another in Monson Wednesday morning.
According to authorities, a woman heard some type of explosion on Route 15, looked out her window and saw fire, then called for help.
The blaze started in a duplex, we're told no one was inside at the time.
The heat melted the siding on Northwoods Medical building next door, there is also smoke damage.
Fire fighters from seven departments were called in. We're told the fire was next to the fire station, so crews knocked down the flames in about a half hour.
Power has been turned off to the area.
Route 15 was shut down for a few hours Wednesday morning, there is now one lane open.
The Fire Marshal's office has been called in to investigate.
