State of Maine Suing Federal Government Over Medicaid Coverage

The state of Maine is suing the federal government for failing to act on its waiver request seeking to eliminate Medicaid coverage for more than 20,000 residents.

The centers for Medicare and Medicaid services told the state last week more time was needed to review the request.

Medicaid serves 361 thousand Maine residents.

The governor says Medicaid has grown faster than the state's ability to pay for it.

The Republican-controlled legislature reduced coverage during the last session.
