Labor Day Marked By Labor Council Celebration

3

Brewer - The Eastern Maine Labor Council and Food AND Medicine organization threw a Labor Day celebration Monday afternoon.

About 150 people showed up for good food and live entertainment.

Many people at the event said they were there to remember the past and look to the future.

Linda Fairbrother, Trustee of the Eastern Maine Labor Council, explains, "We need to remember that the roots of everything that's good in America starts with the working person and the working class has built America into what it is, the infrastructure, all the gains that have been made, somebody has to work that."

The event was held at the Solidarity Center in Brewer.

It was five dollars to get in, with all proceeds going towards fixing the center's roof.
