Dennistown -
Police say a Canadian motorcycle rider was killed after he crashed into a moose.
Detective Lt. Carl E. Gottardi II of the Somerset County Sheriff's Department says the man was thrown off his 2009 Harley-Davidson after hitting the animal on Route 201 north of Jackman.
Gottardi says that moose are especially difficult to see at night because of their dark color.
A passer-by happened upon the scene Saturday night.
The victim, who was wearing a helmet, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not immediately identified pending notification of family members.
